The Bundesliga Show 102: The Final Match-day and the Final Countdown

It’s a live podding event in which Matt, Jon and Terry sip hearty German brews at London’s Bavarian Beerhouse ahead of the couldn’t-possibly-get-more-German 2013 Champions League final. The boys talk over the fallout from a wild final day of the Bundesliga season and share their thoughts on the big, bad final at Wembley. Oh and did we mention the special guest? It’s German goalkeeping legend Bodo Illgner! He currently plies his trade as a studio analyst with beIN Sports, and joins Matt on the line from Florida to share his memories of Jupp Heynckes, who coached him to a Champions League title in 1998, as well as his thoughts on the current German football landscape. A dandy.

Loveys’ 2.Bundesliga-Match-Day 33

The final match-day of the 2. Bundesliga season is almost upon us and here is Tom Loveys with his final betting selections.

Below are my betting selections ahead of the final day’s action in the 2.Bundesliga. Hertha and Braunschweig have already sealed promotion and will be playing in the higher echelons next season. Kaiserslautern have wrapped up the third place play-off spot. Regensburg and Sandhausen have already fallen through the trap-door to the 3.Liga, so the only thing that remains to be decided is who is left in the relegation play-off spot. Dresden and Aue will fight this out.

Match-Day 34 poses some interesting questions, will the teams play to form? Will the players be thinking of their summer holidays? Will we do any better than last week’s impressive 6/9 results correct

1 Hertha BSC 33 37 75
2 Eintracht Braunschweig 33 18 66
3 1. FC Kaiserslautern 33 23 58
4 FSV Frankfurt 33 10 53
5 1. FC Köln 33 7 51
6 Energie Cottbus 33 5 47
7 TSV 1860 München 33 5 46
8 VfR Aalen 33 4 46
9 1. FC Union Berlin 33 0 46
10 SC Paderborn 07 33 1 42
11 FC Ingolstadt 04 33 -4 42
12 FC St. Pauli 33 -4 40
13 MSV Duisburg 33 -13 40
14 VfL Bochum 33 -11 38
15 Erzgebirge Aue 33 -8 34
16 Dynamo Dresden 33 -16 34
17 SV Sandhausen 33 -27 26
18 Jahn Regensburg 33 -27 19

Match-Day 32: Best Odds at the time of writing:

12-13 FC Kaiserslautern Home Shirt-Kaiserslautern 20/23 v St.Pauli 31/10: Draw 14/5

Kaiserslautern have cemented the third place spot and will be gearing up for the play-offs. Will they rest players? St. Pauli were particularly impressive against a fluffy-defensive showing of Braunschweig last week. The Red Devils are generally quick to start and are the best first 45 minute side in the league. Kaiserslautern to be winning at HT @ 7/5

--1860 Munchen 21/20 v Aalen 13/5: Draw 13/5

Goals have always been minimal in games involving these sides this season. Having said that Aalen were boosted by their 3-0 victory against Dresden whilst 1860 slipped up to Paderborn. 14 of the last 20 1860 Munchen games have gone ‘Under 2.5′ goals and its a bet we’re happy to take at Odds Against. 1860 Munchen/Aalen: Under 2.5 goals @ 5/4

VfL Bochum-Bochum 21/20 v Union 14/5: Draw 5/2

Bochum hauled themselves out of relegation trouble with four consecutive wins, which was brought to a halt by Frankfurt last week. Union, despite looking promising potential promotion contenders earlier in the season, have been models of inconsistency, winning then losing on a regular basis. Bochum don’t normally make the first impact on the scoresheet, so we’ll take Union to make the better start. Union to score the first goal @ 13/10

-FSV Frankfurt Braunschweig Evens v Frankfurt 3/1: Draw 14/5

Braunschweig will want to finish a successful season on a high and certainly forget last week’s mauling by St. Pauli. Frankfurt have been successful in this column of a number of occasions, but away form has been the only thing keeping them off a promotion bid. The away side would love to finish 4th, but we feel Braunschweig’s dominance at home will see them through. Braunschweig to win @ Evens

--Duisburg 15/13 v Paderborn 12/5: Draw 27/10

Sticking to a format I like here…Paderborn impressed beating 1860 Munchen at home last week and have served us well in the past, scoring more goals between 45mins and 90mins. Duisburg after an awful start will just be pleased to be safe. Paderborn to score more goals in the 2nd half (Compared to the first half) @ 8/5

-SSV Jahn RegensburgDresden 4/11 v Regensburg 15/2: Draw 9/2

Dresden at 4/11….Obviously they have to get a result, but I’d have no confidence at that price. Regensburg will play without pressure and are capable of performing, as previous games have sometimes shown. The Draw at HT makes appeal in what will undoubtedly be a nervy match, priced at 24/13. However, taking a chance, I feel the atmosphere at the Gluckgas Stadium will spur the home team in the 2nd half  and overall keep them safe. Draw at HT – Dresden at FT @ 18/5

-FC Energie CottbusHertha 8/15 v Cottbus 11/2: Draw 18/5

Newly crowned league champions will want to put on a show in their final 2.Bundesliga game. Having gone unbeaten at the Olympic Stadium this season, coupled with Cottbus’ poor away form, it’s difficult to look beyond a Hertha win. Hertha on the handicap, Hertha to keep a clean sheet are all markets that could be looked at, but keeping with a tried and tested and normally profitable market…. Hertha to score more goals in the 2nd half (than the 1st half) @ 13/10 makes appeal as a value bet.

FC Ingolstadt 041.FC CologneIngolstadt 9/5 v Fc Koln 31/20: Draw 13/5

Fc Koln will have to be content with another season in the 2.Bundesliga with their season just tailing away. Ingolstadt are tough top break down and goals are hard to come by with both of these teams. A low-scoring clash is expected. Under 2.5 goals @ 7/5

SV SandhausenFC Erzgebirge AueSandhausen 7/2 v Aue 4/5: Draw 31/10

Aue are playing chicken with the 3.Liga and now face the real possibility of falling through the trap-door. Obviously requiring a result means that they are priced at 4/5 despite a poor away record. Sandhausen’s games normally are full of goals and can be quick starters, Aue will have to react, but I worry about them being able to get the needed result over the 90 minutes. So at a bigger price, we’ll go for Both teams to score in the first half @ 11/4

So to summarise, do you need some money for a new car, new shoes or even just some German Beer and Sausages? Then put some of these selections below into multiple bets and who knows…maybe a fortune awaits. 6/9 last week and some decent profits obtained.

Kaiserslautern to be leading St.Pauli at HT 7/5
1860 Munchen/Aalen: Under 2.5 goals 5/4
Union to score the first goal against Bochum 13/10
Braunschweig to beat Frankfurt Evens
Paderborn to score more goals in the 2nd half v Duisburg 8/5
Draw HT-Dresden FT: Dresden v Regensburg 18/5
Hertha to score more goals in the 2nd half v Cottbus 13/10
Ingolstadt/FC Koln: Under 2.5 goals 7/5
Both teams to score in the 1st half: Sandhausen v Aue 11/4

Loveys’ Matchday 33 2. Bundesliga Betting Preview

Tom Loveys returns with some betting selections for the penultimate matchday of the German second division.

Two more Match-Days in the 2.Bundesliga season and all 9 games kick-off on Sunday at 12.30pm. Hertha only require a point away at FC Koln to clinch the title and its pleasing to see a contingent from the Hertha BSC UK fan club have made the journey to (hopefully) see this.

Kaiserslautern look like they have sealed the third play-off spot and a win against bottom-side Regensburg will cement this, whilst the relegation play-off spot looks like a battle between Dresden and Aue although St.Pauli’s games look difficult and they aren’t out of trouble either yet.

As always below are brief previews of each games with a selection offered at Evens or above for all nine games.

   FC Koln 6/5 v Hertha 12/5. Draw 11/4

A point for Hertha sees a title clincher but FC Koln need a result to maintain any chance of the third place spot. With the home side only tasting one defeat at the RheinEnergieStadion this season, it’ll be tough for the Berliners. I’m sticking to a trusted formula here, expecting a tight clash early.More goals in the 2nd half @ 23/20

- -Union 21/20 v Duisburg 3/1. Draw 13/5

Duisburg have become a tough side to beat with no defeats in the last 5 games. Despite Union’s strong home form, I see little goals here. Under 2.5 goals @ 11/10

- -Cottbus 8/13 v Sandhausen 5/1. Draw 10/3

Another side strong at home and the price of 8/13 reflects that against already relegated Sandhausen, especially after decent results against both Kaiserslautern and Braunschweig. We’ll be looking at the HT market for our selection and with the home side having led in 9 of their last 20 games, we’ll look for Cottbus to have the advantage after 45 minutes.Cottbus to be winning at HT @ 6/5

- -Aue 21/20 v Ingolstadt 3/1. Draw 13/5

Aue are desperate for a result and showed some 2nd half battling qualities in their previous game against Hertha. Ingolstadt are the HT draw specialists, with 12 of their last 20 games being all square at the break.Draw at HT @ 5/4

   St.Pauli 19/20 v Braunschweig 10/3. Draw 11/4

Money has piled in for St.Pauli all week, with a combination of needing to win and Braunschweig having nothing to play for, the home side are now odds-on with a guaranteed rocking atmosphere at the Millerntor. Braunschweig won’t roll over though and again I’m looking at a market that has served us well in the past. More goals in the 2nd half @ 23/20.

   Frankfurt 17/10 v Bochum 17/10. Draw 13/5

I find it difficult to see how these two teams are equally priced. Frankfurt are superb at home and despite a crushing defeat last week, I expect a decent reaction against a Bochum side who have lost 7 of their 16 away games. Frankfurt to win @ 17/10

   Paderborn 7/4 v 1860 Munchen 9/5. Draw 12/5

1860 Munchen have a strong record away from home with only 3 defeats in their 16 away games. Similarly Paderborn appear to struggle in front of their own fans having only registered 4 wins this season. We fancy 1860 to keep this run going and will be backing them on the Asian Handicap. 1860 Munchen (0, -0,50) AH @ 29/20

    Regensburg 9/1 v Kaiserslautern 4/11. Draw 9/2

The odds suggest a formality for the Red Devils with a win sealing the third place play-off spot. Regensburg will be playing for pride and the game may be closer than expected. I see Kaiserslautern running out winners but only by a small margin. Kaiserslautern to win by 1 goal @ 11/4

   Aalen 2/1 v Dresden 6/4. Draw 12/5

An intriguing clash with the away side again, needing a result to keep a survival bid alive, although with only 1 away success this season, the stats don’t bode well. Aalen are a solid unit, who keep things tight. I fancy them to score the first goal, putting pressure on Dresden for the rest of the game. Aalen to score the first goal @ 6/5

To summarise our selections;

FC Koln v Hertha More goals in the 2nd Half @ 23/20
Union v Duisburg Under 2.5 goals @ 11/10
Cottbus v Sandhausen Cottbus to be winning at HT @ 6/5
Aue v Ingolstadt Draw at HT @ 5/4
St.Pauli v Braunschweig More goals in the 2nd half @ 23/20
Frankfurt v Bochum Frankfurt to win @ 17/10
Paderborn v 1860 Munchen 1860 Munchen (0, -0.50) AH @ 6/5
Regensburg v Kaiserslautern Kaiserslautern to win by 1 goal @ 11/4
Aalen v Dresden Aalen to score the first goal @ 6/5

Loveys’ 2.Bundesliga-Match-Day 32

Three games left in the 2.Bundesliga and Hertha can wrap up the title with a win against Aue, if also already promoted Braunschweig lose to Cottbus.

There is an interesting battle for third place and the play-off position. With Kaiserslautern being thumped by Cottbus 4-2 and FC Koln failing to overcome 1860 Munchen, there is a slim chance that FSV Frankfurt can spoil the party and their clash against Kaiserslautern is surely the stand-out tie this week.

Already relegated Regensburg face Aalen and Sandhausen will also disappear to the 3.Liga if they fail to beat Ingolstadt, although their fate could be sealed dependant on Dresden’s Friday night result.

Dresden 5/6 v Paderborn 4/1 Draw 14/5

Dresden are desperate for a win and the three points could realistically give them a great shot of escaping the drop zone completely. It could be a nervous, cagey clash with little chances in the first half. Draw at H/T @ 13/10 is the selection

Hertha 4/9 v Aue 8/1 Draw 9/2

Hertha will be keen to wrap up the title at the earliest possibility and are of course, strong at the Olympic Stadium. Aue face a daunting task but know that anything they can achieve will be a massive bonus and will arrive at the capital in battling spirit. I can see the Champions-elect putting on another strong show. Hertha to win to nil @ 13/10

Aalen 3/5 v Regensburg 6/1 Draw 10/3

Low scoring-clash expected. Regensburg will be playing for pride and Aalen looking to finish the season with a winning record. Draw-HT/Aalen-FT @ 7/2 is our selection at bigger odds

Sandhausen 13/5 v Ingolstadt 6/5 Draw 5/2

Last chance saloon for Sandhausen, who could already be relegated should Dresden achieve a result on Friday. The home side are in dreadful form, having lost the last 4, whilst Ingolstadt are the league’s draw specialists at HT with 14 draws at 45 minutes so far. Draw at HT @ 5/4

Bochum 21/10 v FC Koln 29/20 Draw 5/2

Fc Koln have a great chance to bounce back into 3rd spot, with Kaiserslautern not taking their chance last Monday. Bochum have lost 7 at home and FC Koln seem the value bet over the 90 minutes, perhaps with a 1-0 score-line. FC Koln to win @ 29/20

Kaiserslautern 11/20 v Frankfurt 6/1 Draw 7/2

Arguably the best match of the weekend, Frankfurt are a huge price at 6/1 on current form but do struggle away from home. Kaiserslautern will be hoping that last week’s defeat was just a minor blip and are taken to be leading at HT. Kaiserslautern to be leading at HT @ 23/20

Duisburg 8/5 v St.Pauli 2/1 Draw 12/5

St.Pauli are particularly bad away from home, having lost 9 from 15 and the last three in a row, conceding 10. Duisburg may be value at 8/5 and are unbeaten in the last 6 games. Both teams should be safe, but need points just to be certain. We’ll take Duisburg at the prices to keep up their good form. Duisburg to win @ 8/5

1860 Munchen 6/5 v Union Berlin 14/5 Draw 12/5

6th play 7th with both sides having dreamed of better things earlier in the season. Union have been dreadfully inconsistent between home and away form but are taken to score the first goal against 1860 who have only opened the scoring 6 times in the last 20 games. Union to score first @ 6/4

Braunschweig 3/4 v Cottbus 5/1 Draw 11/4

Party time for Braunschweig, celebrating their promotion to the Bundesliga. They will have added impetus should Hertha taste defeat against Aue with a slim chance of taking the title, still being alive. Cottbus will be buoyed by their victory against Kaiserslautern but an encounter at the Eintracht Stadion will be an altogether different proposition. Braunschweig have won 7 of their last 20 home games by a solitary goal and Cottbus have lost 6 out of their last 20 away games by the same margin. Braunschweig to win by 1 goal margin @ 5/2

Summary of Selections:

Dresden/Paderborn: Draw at HT 13/10
Hertha to win to Nil 13/10
Draw-HT Aalen FT 7/2
Sandhausen/Ingolstadt: Draw at HT 5/4
FC Koln to beat Bochum 29/20
Kaiserslautern to be leading Frankfurt at HT 23/20
Duisburg to beat St.Pauli 8/5
Union to score first v 1860 Munchen 6/4
Braunschweig to win by 1 goal margin 5/2

The 9-team accumulator pays a life-changing 6,417/1, maybe a bit optimistic but certainly combining some of these selections in doubles/trebles and multiple bets could prove profitable.

The final five games of the 2.Bundesliga season are upon us and following Hertha’s draw against Ingolstadt and Braunschweig’s subsequent win against Sandhausen, the gap between the top two is now just two points.

However a win for Hertha on Sunday against Sandhausen will see an instant return to the top flight after last season’s relegation, bringing the good times back to the Olympic Stadium.

At the bottom, Regensburg and Sandhausen look virtually doomed, whilst Dresden and Bochum both appear to be fighting to stay out of the play-off spot.

Here are our best bets for this Match-Day along with a selection in every game at Evens or above.

Bochum/St.Pauli: 2nd half highest scoring half: 23/20

St.Pauli have proved a profitable selection after 45 minutes and the theme of this week’s betting opportunities is ‘sticking to what has happened before’. Both teams have had 15 out of 29 games where they have scored more in the 2nd half and we’re hopeful of a repeat again.

Hertha to score more goals in the 2nd half: 5/4

Hoping for a promotion party on Sunday and maybe after a nervy start, Hertha will take full control after 45 minutes. Another successful bet in the past and I can see Sandhausen falling apart if Hertha get a couple ahead. 19 of Hertha’s 29 games have seen this bet being successful.

Braunschweig (-1.25) Asian Handicap to beat Aue: 6/5

Braunschweig will be keen to keep up with the pace and capitalise on any slip up from Hertha. Having won 10/14 games at home, they are a force to be reckoned with at Eintracht-Stadion. They should be able to brush past an Aue side who have improved in recent week but are poor away from home.

The best  bets treble pays an 9½ /1 for those looking at bigger prices.

Matchday 30

Aalen to score more goals in the 2nd half v Union

Bochum/St.Pauli: 2nd half highest scoring half

Regensburg/Ingolstadt: Draw at HT

1860 Munchen/Frankfurt: 2-3 Goals in the game

Kaiserslautern/Paderborn: 2nd half, highest scoring half

Hertha to score more goals in the 2nd half

Braunschweig (-1.25) Asian Handicap to beat Aue

Dresden/Cottbus: 2 goals in the game

FC Koln to beat Duisburg

Loveys’ 2.Bundesliga Betting Preview – Matchday 29

Tom Loveys is back with some more betting selections for the German Second Division. Follow Tom on Twitter here.

With some great profits delivered last week, having correctly predicted 6/9 results, with a profit of 9.8 points and virtually a 10/1 ‘Best Bets’ treble being landed. Things have taken a massive up-turn as we head towards the final few games of the 2.Bundesliga season.

With Hertha’s emphatic 3-0 success over Braunschweig, they are now 1/7 to lift the title with Braunschweig best-priced at 9/2. Kaiserslautern remain in 3rd with a decisive victory over promotion rivals FC Koln. At the other end of the table, it remains bleak for Regensburg and Sandhausen whilst Bochum fans will be getting increasingly worried now sitting in 16th after a shocking 3-0 home loss to Aue.

Below are the odds for Match-Day 29,

Union 11/10 Draw 5/2 Dresden 3/1
Ingolstadt 4/1 Draw 13/5 Hertha 9/10
Sandhausen 7/2 Draw 5/2 Braunschweig Evens
St.Pauli 17/10 Draw 23/10 1860 Munchen 15/8
Frankfurt 7/6 Draw 5/2 Duisburg 13/5
FC Koln 3/5 Draw 10/3 Aalen 11/2
Cottbus 11/10 Draw 5/2 Bochum 10/3
Paderborn 17/20 Draw 14/5 Regensburg 7/2
Aue 3/1 Draw 7/3 Kaiserslautern 23/20

Best Bets:

Union to beat Dresden @ 11/10

Union are another side who seem to produce a different performance each week. A lavish 4-2 home victory against St.Pauli was only followed up with mediocre performances away, losing to Frankfurt and drawing with Paderborn. At home they seem a different proposition; having won 8 of their 14 games played and will fancy their chances against a battling Dresden side who are fighting for their lives in 15th place.

Cottbus to beat Bochum @ 11/10

Cottbus are strong at home and seem to have overcome their recent wobble, still sitting in 7th place. At odds against at home, they look a value bet to beat a poor Bochum side who have lost 4 of their last 6 games, the most recent being a decisive 3-0 home defeat to Aue.

Paderborn to score more goals in the 2nd half @ 16/11

I like the look of these markets, specialising in different opportunities than the usual fare each week. Paderborn have played 14 games at home this season, having scored more goals in the 2nd half in 11 of these. The 16/11 price looks great value as chances will be aplenty against the bottom of the table side.

Below are selections in each of the 9 games this weekend. As ever each prediction is offered at Evens or above.

Union to beat Dresden 11/10
Hertha to score more goals in the 2nd half 29/20
Braunschweig to beat Sandhausen Evens
St.Pauli/1860 Muchen: 2nd half to have more goals 23/20
Frankfurt to beat Duisburg 7/6
FC Koln/Aalen: Under 2.25 goals (Asian Handicap Goals) 7/6
Cottbus to beat Bochum 11/10
Paderborn to score more goals in the 2nd half 16/11
Aue/Kaiserslautern: HT-Draw 11/10

Mouth-watering clashes across the German 2nd Division this weekend and we’re confident after last week’s 5/9 profitable performance that further success can be gained, as we moved into a cumulative profit!

Matchday 28: Best available odds at time of writing (4th April)

Fri Kaiserslautern 27/20 Draw 12/5 FC Koln 5/2

Sun 1860 Munchen 11/10 Draw 12/5 Cottbus 10/3
Mon Hertha 10/11 Draw 13/5 Braunschweig 4/1

The exciting action starts on Friday night with 3rd place Kaiserslautern taking on 4th place FC Koln, Bochum and Aue facing up in a relegation-threatened clash. 5th place 1860 take on 7th place Cottbus on Sunday leaving the clash of the top two, Hertha and Braunschweig for the final game on Monday evening.

Best Bets:

Frankfurt (0) on Asian Handicap to beat Regensburg @ Evens

Despite Frankfurt’s below par away form, they have been able to keep pace in 6th with superb home displays. They will be buoyed by their 3-0 win against Union and if even an element of that performance is seen against Regensburg, then the Even money on the Asian Handicap market (Stake returned if a draw) should be value.

Paderborn to score more goals in the 2nd half @ 17/11

Paderborn are no strangers to finding the net and both teams here regularly feature in games with over 2.5 goals. However out of Paderborn’s 13 home games so far, 9 of them have seen them score more goals between 45-90 minutes than the first half. We’ll take a chance on this against an inconsistent Union side.

Hertha v Braunschweig: More goals in the 2nd half @ 23/20

Top of the table clash, what are we expecting? Tight cagey encounter? Free-flowing attacking football? I tend to favour the former, Hertha always seem to push on in the second half and both sides could easily cancel each-other out in the first 45 minutes.

Here are my best bets, again across a variety of different markets, all of which are Evens or above. Good luck.

FC Koln (0) Asian Handicap v Kaiserslautern 29/20
Bochum v Aue: Over 2.5 goals Evens
Aalen v Ingolstadt: Half Time: Draw 11/10
Dresden to score first v St.Pauli Evens
Frankfurt (0) Asian Handicap v Regensburg Evens
Duisburg D/H in the HT/FT market 4/1
Paderborn to score more goals in the 2nd half v Union 17/11
1860 Munchen to be leading Cottbus at HT 9/5
Hertha v Braunschweig: More goals in the 2nd half 23/20

In MatchDay 25, Hertha surged 4 points clear at the top of the table with a 4-2 home victory against Duisburg. Braunschweig were reliant on a late Domi Kumbela equaliser to earn a point at home to Kaiserslautern. FC Koeln continue to surge upwards with a comfortable 3-0 victory against Paderborn and Cottbus delivered another win, 2-1 at home to Union.

St.Pauli produced another dramatic 90th minute winner against Regensburg and FSV Frankfurt demolished Aalen 6-1

1860 Munchen v Hertha is probably the pick of the matches this week, however Union v St.Pauli looks interesting and Monday’s night’s clash between Dresden and Fc Koeln will have implications at either end of the table.

Best Bets:

Paderborn/FSV Frankfurt: Over 2.5 Goals: 11/10:

Both these teams play with attack on their minds. 50% of Paderborn’s home games and 66.7% of Frankfurt’s away games have gone over 2.5 goals and the 11/10 on offer for this makes some appeal, especially off the back of Frankfurt’s 6-1 thrashing of Aalen.

Braunschweig (-0.25-Asian Handicap): 41/40

I’m tempted not to touch Braunschweig again after being let down by them twice in two weeks, however on Saturday they travel to 15th place Bochum, who have a home record of W3-D4-L5 from their 12 games. Braunschweig battled back to gain a point against Kaiserslautern on Monday and whilst recent form is extremely poor, you don’t become a bad side overnight and they’ll be keen to get back to winning ways.

The Asian Handicap is a new venture for me, and the above bet gives us the security net of half of our stake back should the game end in a Draw. Bochum haven’t won in the last 4 games and Braunschweig should really have the quality……otherwise I won’t be including them again!

1860 Munchen v Hertha: Hertha to score more goals in the 2nd half: 16/11

An attractive looking clash with both teams in good form. I’d imagine this game to be quite tight and cagey early on and I was tempted with a Draw or even 0-0 at Half Time. However, looking at the stats and a ‘different market’, it’s interesting to note that Hertha have scored 28 goals away from home, 20 of these being in the second half. The 16/11 price on offer would appear to be great value around the league leaders who seem to ‘kick into gear’ from 45 minutes.

As always, I’ve attempted to find a ‘bet’ in each of the nine 2.Bundesliga games which offer Evens or above. We went 5/9 last week and hope to improve on that further.

All the selections for Matchday 26:

Duisburg/Cottbus: Draw at HT 11/10

Loveys’ Bundesliga 2 Betting Preview – Matchday 25

Tom Loveys returns with some more betting selections for the German Second Division. Follow Tom on Twitter here.

Here are the fixtures for Match Day 25 in the 2.Bundesliga. Probably the stand-out tie will be on Monday night where second place Braunschweig entertain third place Kaiserslautern. A review of match-day 24 is here.

St.Pauli 8/13 Draw 29/10 Regensburg 9/2
Frankfurt 7/5 Draw 23/10 Aalen 21/10
Sandhausen 12/5 Draw 12/5 1860 Munchen 13/10
Cottbus 13/10 Draw 12/5 Union Berlin 12/5
FC Koln 13/20 Draw 29/10 Paderborn 9/2
Ingolstadt 23/20 Draw 12/5 Bochum 13/5
Aue 5/4 Draw 12/5 Dresden 12/5
Hertha 4/11 Draw 4/1 Duisburg 9/1
Braunschweig 13/10 Draw 23/10 Kaiserslautern 9/4

Best Bets:

Braunschweig to beat Kaiserslautern @ 13/10

Despite letting us down last week, we’re taking a chance with the early pace-setters. Admittedly recent form hasn’t been good, but arguably their opponents, Kaiserslautern are in just as poor form, having only drawn against Bochum and Duisburg and losing in a one-sided affair to Hertha. 13/10 is good value for the home team who have the strongest record on their own soil with 9 wins from the 12 games played at the Eintracht-Stadion.

Hertha (-1) to beat Duisburg @ 11/10

It’s not often I’ll put up my own team as a ‘Best Bet’, so maybe a little heart is being used here as well as my head! After putting in a disappointing effort against Dresden last week, the current league leaders will be desperate to forget last Saturday and show the Berlin public what they can really do. Odds of 4/11 for the outright 90 minute win are extremely prohibitive at the Olympic Stadium, so we’ll be hoping for at least two goals with no reply and a convincing win to get back on track with a selection on the handicap market.

Dresden (DNB) to beat Aue @ 11/8

Having watched Dresden last week, there seems a renewed fighting spirit which has seen them gain 2 wins, 2 draws and a solitary loss in their last 5 games. If they can put in anything similar to the performance which toppled Hertha last week, then the 11/8 with the ‘Draw No Bet’ security blanket could be terrific value against an Aue side which appear to be spiralling into trouble after losing 4 of their last 5 games. This is the big relegation clash of the weekend with both teams locked on 24 points each.

Following a profitable last Match-Day with 5/9 results correctly predicted, again we’ll be looking for a selection in every game, specifically looking at a variety of markets in order to offer a bet which is ’Evens or Above’

St.Pauli/Regensburg: 2nd half to have most goals 11/10
Frankfurt to beat Aalen 7/5
1860 Munchen to beat Sandhausen 13/10
Cottbus/Union: Both teams to score in the 2nd half 5/2
Paderborn (DNB) to beat FC Koln 19/5
Ingolstadt v Bochum: Draw at HT 23/20
Dresden (DNB) to beat Aue 11/8
Hertha (-1) to beat Duisburg 11/10
Braunschweig to beat Kaiserslautern 13/10

Some bigger prices selected this week, particularly the near 4/1 for a Paderborn away victory in Koln with ‘no bet’ should the game be a draw.
